Road Safety Professional Practice Test

In the Driving Task Model, understanding the hierarchy of activities is essential for managing the complexity of driving. The correct sequence from least complex to most complex activity in driving is Control, Guidance, and then Navigation.

Control refers to the basic actions required to operate the vehicle, such as steering, braking, and accelerating. These tasks are fundamental and necessary for the immediate operation of the vehicle.

Guidance involves understanding the road environment and following signs and signals, which adds a layer of decision-making to the driving process. It requires the driver to interpret the information presented and react accordingly to maintain safe driving.

Navigation encompasses the most complex activities, as it involves planning a route and adjusting that plan based on ongoing conditions. It requires cognitive skills such as spatial awareness, understanding maps, and potentially responding to changing traffic conditions or obstacles.

By organizing these activities in this way, drivers can better prioritize their focus according to the demands of the driving context. The other options do not accurately reflect the complexity hierarchy established in the Driving Task Model.
